Difficulty: The game can be quite difficult if not prepared right (like in most RPG) so it is good for those who like a challenge. So it has features to keep people playing even if they beat the main story. Keep in mind If you pick the wrong monster then you will lose the money you had bet on the losing monster. A third is the monster fights where monsters are pit against one another, there you can bet on which monster you think will win, choose the right one and you earn money, player can do this as much as they like. Keep in mind that there are traps on the board so go with a character with good stats and high luck (you'll need it in the towers). Having played both, a few things to note: Dragon Quest 1 SFC / GBC Magic Armor heals 1HP per 4 steps / Magic Armor Heals 1 HP per 2 steps Fairy Flute is 6 steps South of the hot spring / Fairy Flute is 3 steps South of the hot spring Repel works for 128 steps / Repel works for 64 steps SFC starts with slightly less HP on average / GBC starts with slightly more HP on average Dragon Quest 2 SFC. Another feature is the Game Towers (at least that's what I call them) there you can select one character from your party to explore a board game to receive a fabulous prize. One is the class system you can also change the class one the character has a Level 20 proficiency in that class (so I've read). Depth: This game has certain features that keep it interesting. This results in you traveling all over the world. The story is where you are the son of the hero Ortega and after his death you must carry on his task of stopping the evil that threatens your world. Story: Like in most RPG the story is to save the world from an evil threat. If no than you will lose interest quickly at the beginning of the game. Addictiveness: The addictiveness would depend on whether you like turn based or not. (Even on this site the sound is smooth.) Not to mention that there is some catchy and memorable music in it as well. Sound: I like the sound for how it is smoother in this version than the GBC version.
I say the graphics are good for this system. The characters and animation are better and more pleasing to look at. Out of morbid curiosity, I then started playing the NES version with all its foibles. I played through and beat the GBC port and really enjoyed it.
#DRAGON QUEST 3 SNES OR GBC SERIES#
The background is great and I like how it has a background in the battle scenes as opposed to a blank white space in the other version. Inspired by the release of Dragon Quest XI I was inspired to actually start the series, as my only real exposure to the series has been Theatrhythm, despite owning several games for the DS and 3DS. Graphics: The graphics in this version are better that the GBC version mostly for how they are a bit smoother. I think of it as a good game to play for Dragon Quest fans. I can say that the SNES version is a bit better that the GBC version. I have played the GBC version and compared it to this version. It is a SNES version of the GBC version of it.
